#61 Niger, consolidated mapping, Base Roads Checker

Getting a thematic, consolidated data over a territory is one of the main concerns for OSM, that often confronts very detailed areas and very partially mapped areas, as in Niger. The state of completeness and consistency is totally unknown. This project uses a methodology to get a consolidated mapping over a territory, designed first for the Central African Republic. It uses a buffer made from an exisiting reference road layer.

#167 Sierra Leone, Flood in Freetown

The objective of this task is to map the areas at high risk of flooding in the capital of León, by mapping the entire structure. The topographic configuration of Freetown suggests that several dwellings are built in the watersheds so as not to respect the urbanization plans. These make them vulnerable to the vagaries of nature. The imaging source used is Bing.

About the Tasking Manager

OSM Tasking Manager is a mapping tool designed and built for the Humanitarian OSM Team collaborative mapping. The purpose of the tool is to divide up a mapping job into smaller tasks that can be completed rapidly. It shows which areas need to be mapped and which areas need the mapping validated.
This approach facilitates the distribution of tasks to the various mappers in a context of emergency. It also permits to control the progress and the homogeneity of the work done (ie. Elements to cover, specific tags to use, etc.).
